Fishers, Indiana: A Thriving City with a Rich History

The Founding of Fishers

In the early days of Indiana's history, a young man named William Conner arrived in the area that would eventually become Fishers. Conner was a Revolutionary War veteran and a skilled surveyor. In 1802, he purchased a large tract of land along the White River. Conner's homestead became known as "Conner's Station," and it served as a gathering place for settlers in the area.

In 1834, the Indianapolis and Lafayette Plank Road was built through Conner's Station. The plank road was a major transportation route, and it helped to connect Fishers to the growing city of Indianapolis. In 1837, the first post office in Fishers was established.
